Hello, my name is Jeremy Kensington. Yesterday, my family was getting ready to head down to our nations capitol, Wahington D. C, to fight for our rights as African Americans and citizens of this country [‘a. Phillip’ 1].even with all this mess and confusion about this war, people still find time and effort to bring out real issues that are right here at home, not a thousand miles away from here. But, we are sadly no longer going on this march toWashington. This is because, Philip Randolph went to our president and discussed with him our peoples needs and desires to be more like the rest of this country when we are mostly separated [Cleland 1]. Philips Randolph’s goal was to try and have white and black workers work in the same defense factories and to have integration within the armed forces. But, his main goal was to just end segregation all together. President Roosevelt let him have integration within the defense plants but not in the armed forces, and we weren’t nearly close enough to no segregation at all yet. But since the president did try and help us a lot, Mr. Randolph called off the marching to the capitol. I really hope that one day all men and women who are working towards the same goal as one another in a war will be able to work side by side, be on the same street, eat in the same place, or even live in the same place as the opposite race[ 'a. Philip' 1]. I only hope that mr. Randolph will have another march to the capitol, because I do believe with him, and Martin Luther King Junior, the African American race can accomplish great things and move forward like Philip Randolph did with our president [ Rummel 1]. As Mr. Randolph always says,''Freedom is never given; it is won'' ['a. Philip' 1].
